Friends of the Secret Keeper, I am writing this for Marge – or, as many of you know her, Jennifer/jennifer kiley/jk – because she cannot.
Marge’s stay in hospital and then short-term care has turned into hospice care. I am hoping to bring her home when she is able – and when I can be sure home is the safest, most comfortable place for her to be.
Until then, we take it one day at a time, treasuring every moment we have together.
The posts she had scheduled will continue to be published….
Good energy, thoughts, and, if you are so inclined, prayers are welcome.
Thank you.
Shawn MacKenzie

Joining with Merril to send a forest of virtual comfort trees. I didn’t realise things had got so bad.

We didn’t either, Jane, until just recently. So many months without diagnosis or way forward, to come to this place.

Does she even have a diagnosis now?

Yes, N-stage liver failure with complications.

And the liver had to fail before they noticed there was a problem! My mother was sent home with a fizzy drink to take for indigestion when she had pancreatic cancer.

I know, it’s ridiculous. Esp. after all the tests she went through – MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, blood work, etc, etc.. You would think something would have shown up before it was this late.

Quite. I imagine it ate up a pile of cash too. Adding insult to injury.

Fortunately she has good coverage through disability. Otherwise we’d be in Queer Street.

“In Queer Street.” God, I haven’t seen/heard that expression for years. Takes me back to childhood. It was a favourite of hers. 🙂

I always remember it from Brideshead Revisited. John Gielgud ambling on to Jeremy Irons about being spending beyond his youthful means.

They seem to only see what they’re looking for. I went fourteen years without a diagnosis for my problem because the specialist who had the first massive series of tests done (and the second) didn’t pick up on what the lab had noted about one of the blood test results. I suppose it was beneath her dignity to listen to what a menial had to say. Hoping Marje is in some relative comfort and thinking of her. Internet here is erratic, so I apologise for being out of contact for days at a time.

That’s it, exactly. And people tend to look for house cats rather than ocelots, ponies rather than zebras. And if nothing is apparent, just treat the symptoms. Medicine has so far to come in this world…and its practice even further.

GPs here serve only as the first link in the food chain, passing everyone up to a specialist who was a friend from medical school. Not necessarily because they think there’s the slightest chance that’s what you might be suffering from. Problem with the pay as you go system.

OMGoddess Shawn! I’ve just read your conversation with Jane, so much truth said! Dealing with the medical world can drive one insane as Marge knows very well I suppose. Wish I could be there for support and holding hands. Are there any friends around you? There in Spirit….may Marge journey gently….. 😦 xox

“Liked” hardly seems appropriate. I’ll say “Acknowledged” instead,

Some of you may know Marge/Jennifer from her writing on Off the Rails. We’ve been together for forty-two years… Ups and downs, thick and thin.
Words become inadequate.

Soul sisters for sure! And animal lovers. Am speechless almost, words seem inadequate but know I am guiding you both and staying home today doing my rituals also for some other souls who are passing. Marge will be in good company in her soul journey, surrounded by other genius spirits. Be guided Shawn…take care of self in this too. (X)

I hated hitting the Like button. I don’t like, your readers don’t like, the Universe doesn’t like. But we all wish for a blessed time in whatever time there is – none of us know. But we do know that love helps, so I send bouquets of love and healing loving wishes.

God bless you. I was just wondering if anything new had been posted or a post saying she was no longer going to post. This wasn’t what I expected. May God bless her and may her time be painless as possible. I am praying for you both at this troubling time.
