Sisyphus II © j.kiley – Mandala of Continual Motion

The gods had condemned Sisyphus to ceaselessly
rolling a rock to the top of the mountain, whence
the stone would fall back of its own weight. They
had fought with some reason that there is no more
dreadful punishment than futile and hopeless labor.

PERSEVERANCE
by j.kiley

The stabbing pain draining
silent screams echoing
lightning strikes flashing
crashing delicate flesh
mining the core of sensations
with picks and axes
awakening tortures from the past
comparable to the pain
intended to find Truth
during the Spanish Inquisition
a test for purity and witch craft
a river of surging fires of lava
flames burning gossamer tissue
as perseverance continues
