  1. I agree with her statement. I think of great books as ‘old friends’ and I visit a few of them every year or two. I have a very few that I revisit often, just because the writing was outstanding.

    • It is rare to find the books which become ‘old friends’ but they do exist. I have a few which live in my mind and heart, always wishing to be called to mind and visited now and again. Siri Hustvedt’s statement, just in the reading, cracks open the skull to the possibility and excitement of walking into the realms of the Great books, spending time in their parallel worlds and finding the power contained in using words in the Greatest way possible.
