Remembrance: Marcel Proust #46

Remembrance: Marcel Proust

Moments from
“Remembrance of Things Past”

Marcel-Proust

“The only real voyage of discovery consists
not in seeking new landscapes,
but in having new eyes.”
― Marcel Proust

“Only through art
can we emerge from ourselves
and know what another person sees.”
― Marcel Proust

“with one image
he would make that beauty
explode into me.”
― Marcel Proust

“But sometimes the future
is latent in us
without our knowing it,
and our supposedly lying words
foreshadow an imminent reality.”
― Marcel Proust

“Our worst fears,
like our greatest hopes,
are not outside our powers,
and we can come in the end
to triumph over the former
and to achieve the latter.”
― Marcel Proust

A Whiter Shade of Pale – Procol Harum

Procol Harum – A Whiter Shade of Pale

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, ‘There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.’
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well’ve been closed
She said, ‘I’m home on shore leave, ‘
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, ‘You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.’
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed

Vitreous

vitreous | robert seidel | experimental film 2015

a vision I saw in my mind of a painting I wanted to create.
this is it in action form as it grows into all it would become.

The motion in painting, for me, is free style like free verse. I see where it takes me and my mind tries to catch up with where we are going.

I must note some of the colors are not ones I would choose to paint with but the general idea. Somewhere in my mind I choose the colors I want to use in a painting and then I see how well they work for what I am trying to express in my mind. It’s a wild thing when a painting draws out what you want to be seen. – kiley

VITREOUS: the nature of or resembling glass, as in transparency, brittleness, hardness, or glossiness

REFLECTION
by kiley

Inquiry – why life?
Essential thirst for knowledge
Life needs a purpose

Depths of perception
Child abuse a profession
Sarcastic façade

Rip apart bargains
Never more serious – hear
Puncturing the soul

A sculptor’s chisel
Casts off the mask of stone
Revealing what is

Innocence vital
Give back what was meant to be
Wrap in protection
