DREAD DARKNESS

Sense the cold dread

Walking in the night

Secure feelings have escaped

Abandoned along with time

Being alone longed for

Forgotten inside hopeless fear

Darkness once friendly play

Nightfall now is haunted

  1. Wow!! sense of security does slip away sometimes and being alone, I find myself enjoying aloneness to do what I want to do when I want, write until the wee hours, read all night and then there are times alone feels like a wet blanket or iron cape. Your last line made me realize that sometimes being alone we have too much free time with our haunting memories. Great poem!!
