QUOTATIONS: “words” “fantasy”

“Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”
― Rudyard Kipling

“Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It’s a way of understanding it.”
― Lloyd Alexander

“Which of us has not felt that the character we are reading in the printed page is more real than the person standing beside us?” ― Cornelia Funke

“Stories of imagination tend to upset those without one.”
― Terry Pratchett

“Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning.” ― Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

“Fairies have to be one thing or the other, because being so small they unfortunately have room for one feeling only at a time.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

“A word is dead when it’s been said, some say. I say it just begins to live that day.”
― Emily Dickinson

“The cost of oblivious daydreaming was always this moment of return, the realignment with what had been before and now seemed a little worse. ” ― Ian McEwan, Atonement

“A poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language.”
― W.H. Auden

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

“A book is more than a verbal structure or series of verbal structures; it is the dialogue it establishes with its reader and the intonation it imposes upon his voice and the changing and durable images it leaves in his memory. A book is not an isolated being: it is a relationship, an axis of innumerable relationships.” ― Jorge Luis Borges

“There are no happy endings… There are no endings, happy or otherwise. We all have our own stories which are just part of the one Story that binds both this world and Faerie. Sometimes we step into each others stories – perhaps just for a few minutes, perhaps for years – and then we step out of them again. But all the while, the Story just goes on.”
― Charles de Lint, Dreams Underfoot

“But words are things, and a small drop of ink,
Falling, like dew, upon a thought produces
That which makes thousands, perhaps millions think.”
― Lord Byron

    • TY, Images from out of fantasies and fairy tales. Not all is good in the world of fantasy. There are the spooky creatures. And you never know with words what will come forward to want their time. Eerie–what a devilish word. It was play time tonight. Never quite sure what will come out to play when I am in that mood. But the word of the day is “fantasy.” 😎 jk

  2. Life is the book I write, the poem I live out loud, the words I speak tenderly, magically, musically. My pages are parchment, cut from the tree…this is nature’s gift to me. I hope to be read, drunk in, turn yellow golden with time, impart wisdom, story, excitement, pathos and rhyme. My words shall be strains of a well made symphony, Superfluous comma shall not dull the rhythm descant, counterpoint, harmony, I will punctuate my book with musical notation, a breve for a rest, room for imagination. A crotchet for a heartbeat, until such time, as life completes my journey rhyme.

    • For this moment I am and my mind are just scattered into pieces by your comment. It will take some time to recover them all, in order that I might put them back together. Seems I’ve heard that one before now. What I just spoke out loud to myself. But truthfully, I need time to find the words that I can utter that are anything that could ever match such a profound a statement such as this in which you amazed me right out of my mind into pure madness so divine. That is what your words are as they do appear. A gift of divinity that you generously left, I am pleased and so grateful for such a gift so sublime. Thank you, Mistress Wordsmith, yet a higher honour I would impose upon you. This is so delightful. I will read this over and over and through and through. It is the greatest comment I’ve ever bared witness to. a.l. jennifer & thank you. WoW! 😎
